Good news for the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions & Exhibitions (MICE) sub sector of tourism in the country!
In a report released by International Congress and Convention Association in Frankfurt, Germany, in May, South Africa was ranked ahead of the pack in both Africa and the Middle East.
Recently, the World Economic Forum Travel’s global travel and tourism competitiveness index listed the country as one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations.
“Cabinet would like to see more of South Africa’s smaller towns and cities bidding for smaller meetings where they can meet the hosting requirements. This will help to improve the geographic distribution of tourism beyond the major centers and spread the wealth generated by these events more equitably,” said Phumla Williams, acting Cabinet spokesperson.
