The Construction began in the first-quarter of 2018 and was completed in nine months. Nexteer is installing machinery now and is expected to engage 500 employees by 2020. Driveline systems to be produced at this plant will comprise of half shafts for new generations of FCA, PSA Group and Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi models. The systems which will produced at the Kenitra plant for PSA Group will consist of single-pinion EPS technology presently featured in A-C segment vehicles for Nexteer clients including BMW and PSA Group.
Tao Liu, Nexteer global chief operating officer stated, “Nexteer’s new Morocco plant is another milestone in our ongoing plan for global footprint expansion and diversification in regions strategically paramount to our key customers”. He also mentioned, “As Nexteer’s first plant in Africa, this facility will promote us to further support customer needs, for our industry leading motion control solutions across Africa and Europe.”
Moroccan Minister of Industry Moulay H. Elalamy mentioned, “With this new establishment, a new great technological craft is being developed in the Kingdom, thus contributes to the alliance of the value chain and the ascent of the Moroccan Automotive Industry.”
