Acquiring a plastic drum manufacturing company in Pinetown, Kwa-Zulu Natal, has allowed Mauser Packaging Solutions, a prominent international industrial packaging manufacturer, to increase its footprint in South Africa. Prior to being acquired by Eliptotime PTY Ltd and Nampak Products Ltd, the company was formally transferred to Mauser on August 1, 2024.
Mauser now has five manufacturing and reconditioning facilities around the region, strengthening its production capabilities and expanding its presence there. Mauser will be able to better satisfy the rising demand for industrial packaging solutions and improve its product range thanks to the increased operations.
According to Michael Steubing, President of Mauser’s International Packaging Business Unit, “this investment demonstrates our commitment to expanding our presence in the region and providing our customers with sustainable packaging solutions.”
The acquisition is significant, as noted by Peter Lucht, General Manager of Mauser in South Africa, who said, “We are proud to expand our plastic capacity and portfolio.” This change improves our capacity to provide our clients a wider selection of items and a dependable supply.
The recently purchased plant manufactures tight-head and open-head plastic drums with UN certification for use in the petrochemical, lubricant, chemical, coating, mining, and food sectors. The website’s certifications for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 demonstrate its dedication to environmental responsibility and quality control.
In addition, Mauser Packaging Solutions produces intermediate bulk containers, or IBCs, and provides plastic drum and IBC reconditioning services. The company’s commitment to occupational health and safety standards is demonstrated by its level 4 Contributor B-BBEE designation and its distinction as the first reconditioner in South Africa to achieve ISO 45001 compliance.
