Tanzania Calls for Expanded Japanese Investments

Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has encouraged prominent Japanese investors and business executives to expand their interests in Tanzania across a range of industries, promising them that the government has made substantial progress in creating a more favorable business climate.

Mr. Majaliwa discussed the blue economy, energy, infrastructure, livestock, agriculture, health, and information and communication technology (ICT) as important areas with investment potential.

He made the comments as part of his official business visit to Tokyo, where he met separately with the leaders of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives (KEIZA DOYUKAI) and the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (KEIDANREN).

Mr. Majaliwa stated, “We cordially invite Japanese businesses to take advantage of the many investment opportunities in Tanzania, which are bolstered by a tranquil business environment, policy reforms, and continuous efforts to reduce bureaucracy.”

Additionally, Mr. Majaliwa met with Miyamoto Yaichi, the president of the Japan-Africa Infrastructure Development Association (JAIDA), and Kenichi Ogasawara, Japan’s deputy minister for land, infrastructure, transport, and tourism (MLIT), on Tuesday.

The Primier encouraged the investors to take advantage of prospects in the energy, infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, and commerce sectors during the meeting, which was attended by the presidents of significant Japanese investment companies and took place at MLIT offices.
