Tanzania Achieves 65% Milestone in Maternal Healthcare Access

The Tanzanian government has reiterated its commitment to offer free healthcare services to pregnant mothers and children under five years old using domestic resources and continuing support from development partners.

In response to a query from Special Seats MP Husna Juma Sekiboko, who wanted to know the precise sources of funding for these vital services, Deputy Minister for Health Dr. Godwin Mollel delivered the declaration in the Parliament.

According to Dr. Mollel, the government is using the national budget in conjunction with contributions from foreign partners to carry out its objectives to guarantee the provision of high-quality health services to these disadvantaged groups.

“Pregnant women’s and children under-five’s healthcare services are currently funded by internal government funds and assistance from development partners who contribute to the national budget,” he said.
