TACTIC Invests Sh67 Billion in Road and Market Construction Projects in Mwanza

The Tanzania government is investing Sh67 billion in major road and market construction projects in Mwanza Region through the Tanzania Urban Infrastructure Development Project (TACTIC), aiming at improving urban mobility and boosting local trade.

Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office for Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI), Prof. Riziki Shemdoe, revealed the details while addressing residents after Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba concluded a working tour of development projects in the region and launched the MV New Mwanza ferry.

Prof. Shemdoe said the funds have supported the construction of key infrastructure, including the 14-kilometre Nyamagana Road valued at Sh22 billion and the 12-kilometre Ilemela Road costing Sh24 billion. In addition, Sh7 billion has been allocated to build the Mkuyuni Nyamagana Fish Market, while Sh14 billion has funded the construction of the Ilemela Mixed Produce Market.

The minister added that once all finishing works are complete, the government will invite the Prime Minister to officially inaugurate the projects for public use.

Prof. Shemdoe also assured that his office will continue closely supervising TARURA to ensure all road and market construction projects are delivered on schedule, enabling Mwanza residents to fully benefit from the improved infrastructure projects.
