Morogoro Tanzania’s 220.8 Billion/- Water Project Begins

An important step toward resolving the long-standing issue of water shortages in the rapidly expanding town is the government’s commencement of a massive water supply project for 220.8 billion/- in Morogoro Municipality.

In response to a simple query from Morogoro Urban MP Abdul-Aziz Mohamed Abood (CCM), Deputy Minister for Water Mr. Mathew Kundo informed the National Assembly on Thursday.

According to him, the plant’s building contract was signed on January 19 of this year, and its implementation is anticipated to take 24 months.

According to Mr. Kundo, the project also entails deepening Mindu Dam’s embankments by 2.5 meters, which should boost the dam’s storage capacity.

The scope of work also includes building four water storage tanks with a combined capacity of nine million liters and installing 372 kilometers of pipelines.

The construction of the tanks in Lukobe, Bigwa, Kipera, and Magereza would improve the distribution of water throughout the Morogoro Municipality.
