Honda has confirmed that Android Auto is now seamlessly integrated into the Honda Africa Twin and Africa Twin Adventure Sports models across Europe. Owners of Africa Twin models in Europe can instal Android Auto via an update to their local Honda dealer.
Android Auto provides Android phone users with easy-to-use features such as Google Maps, music and messaging, and other hands-free media apps on the TFT bike screen. Voice commands through a Bluetooth helmet-mounted system will also help navigate and operate through a variety of applications.
The Africa Twin, though, is not Honda’s first model for Android Auto integration. Last year, Honda announced that the Gold Wing could have Android Auto integration in 2018 and beyond.
On the Gold Wing update, Honda provided detailed instructions on how owners can instal the update on their own using a USB drive. However, for the Africa Twin Android Auto integration, owners will need to contact the Honda dealer and physically take the bike to the dealership to get the update installed.
Apple CarPlay is standard for the Honda Africa Twin 2021, and Android Auto integration will soon be offered as a standard feature for future models. So far, there are no details on which model year bikes can be retrofitted with the Android Auto Update.
So far, only Honda Europe has made the announcement, but considering the 2021 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports has just been sold in India, customers here should check with Honda Big Wing dealers when Android Auto will be available, even though Apple’s CarPlay integration is already being offered for the new Africa Twin Adventure Sports.
