The Geita stadium, which will host home matches for the Geita Gold team, is scheduled to open in April of this year.
During an official visit to the stadium, Geita city council Executive Director Zuhura Michuzi promised that the stadium will be finished on schedule.
‘The construction is now at 65% completion, and we have already built two ticket counters.’ The stadium’s fencing is now 100 percent complete, and work on the ‘Pitch’ continues,’ Michuzi said.
Geita Gold chairman Leonard Bugomola stated that their stadium is nearing completion and that they will lay artificial grass as ordered by President of the United Republic of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan.
He stated that they are currently arranging for artificial grass to be delivered to the Geita region and installed in the stadium.
‘Our major aim was to ensure that we used the stadium in the second round of the ongoing premier league matches, but we haven’t completed yet, so we will continue to play all our matches at Nyankumbu girls Stadium,’ Bugomola explained.
Geita City Council Chairman Costantine Morandi stated that Geita Stadium will only be used for sporting events.
Geita Gold is ranked tenth with 14 points after 13 games.
The Geita gold mine-sponsored squad won three matches, drew five, and lost five.
Their next game will be against Police Tanzania, which will take place at Nyankumbu Girls Secondary School.
