The Kwale management recently announced proposals to spend Sh20 million on beach roadways and lights to attract tourist.
Governor Fatuma Achani stated that the beaches are valuable resources for coastal tourism development since they draw a huge number of domestic and foreign tourists each year.
The plans include improving the transportation system and developing new tourist attractions to provide novel tourism experiences.
Coastal improvements will make evening streets safer and brighter, while beach roads will allow easier access to popular tourist locations.
Achani spoke as she announced the start of work on improving the Watatu Watano and Mvureni beach access roads, as well as street lighting projects in the Diani region of Msambweni subcounty.
She emphasised her administration’s commitment to upgrading Kwale’s infrastructure in order to promote economic growth for both tourists and inhabitants.
“Upon completion of these roads and street lights, the increased traffic volume to and from the beaches will experience fewer delays in travel time,” she said, stressing that Kwale’s economic strength is tourism.
Governor Achani stated that the tourism infrastructure’s development will allow tourists to visit attractions in a secure, comfortable and readily available manner.
She stated that the beach roads and street lighting infrastructure in Diani, a haven of sand, sea and culture, will change the county’s tourism industry.
“The installation of streetlights will enhance the safety and security of beachgoers and serve the buzzing 24-hour tourism businesses,” she told the crowd.
The gorgeous expanse of sand and sea at Diani Beach has something for everyone, from swimming to sunbathing and relaxing.
Diani Beach is a popular holiday destination for both local and international tourists and each year a record number of visitors arrive to enjoy its stunning environment.
With great potential to stimulate economic growth and job creation, the autonomous government is increasingly focusing its investment efforts on the tourist sector.
The governor stated that the accolade also recognises Diani Beach’s seven-year run as Africa’s top beach destination, as well as the county’s efforts to boost leisure tourism.
