In order to strengthen Kenya’s digital health and bio-vaccine research, a high-level bilateral discussion was convened to develop strategic alliances. Delegates from the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) attended the conference, which was organized by Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale and Hon. William Kabogo Gitau. Leading the IVI delegation was Dr. Jerome Kim.
A number of important topics were discussed, including the construction of a $250 million vaccine production plant in Konza Technopolis. By using Kenya’s active participation in the IVI Global Council, the country hopes to establish itself as a regional center for vaccine production and have an impact on the direction of vaccine research worldwide.
The integration of new technologies into Kenya’s healthcare system was another topic of discussion. This includes embedding AI-powered biomedical research within the nation’s Digital Economy Blueprint and promoting innovation through the Kenya-AIST program. The collaboration also underlined the necessity of robust regulations to safeguard health data systems.
Hon. William Kabogo Gitau said in a statement that these partnerships are essential to paving the way for innovation, research, and technology to propel healthcare solutions for Africa and beyond.
