{"id":15677,"date":"2018-01-09T08:53:08","date_gmt":"2018-01-09T08:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/abdas.org\/?p=15677"},"modified":"2018-01-09T08:54:06","modified_gmt":"2018-01-09T08:54:06","slug":"kenyan-plastic-manufacturers-initiate-program-to-promote-recycling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abdas.org\/2018\/01\/09\/kenyan-plastic-manufacturers-initiate-program-to-promote-recycling\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenyan Manufacturers Initiate Program to Promote Recycling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/abdas.org\/?attachment_id=15678\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15678\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/abdas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/download.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"189\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-15678\" \/><\/a> The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) have initiated a program that will see them create awareness about the recycling process of plastic with the goal of attaining sustainable waste management.<\/p>\n<p>The drive will aim to create awareness about issues regarding plastics their proper disposal and the reuse of polythene terephthalete (PET) \u2013 a type of polyester in plastic bottles and containers.<\/p>\n<p>Phyllis Wakiaga, KAM Chief Executive gave her view on the subject saying that the take-back model in schools will help promote a disposal culture among school-goers.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cWe plan to start our awareness initiatives in schools so that we can begin to embed proper waste management activities in children ,\u201d she said during a clean-up drive at Uhuru Park Friday.<\/p>\n<p>She also revealed that KAM will be announcing a drop-off points system for PET waste.
