BUILDEXPO, the largest chain of building shows in Africa approaching this November

After a very successful show in Kenya, Buildexpo Africa is on its way to make a similar impact in the Tanzania construction industry. The previous edition of the event exceeded it’s expectations both in terms of exhibitors and visitors. Reputed to be largest event in East Africa of its kind, the show dedicated to the building and construction industry will next be held from 01st to 03rd November, 2018 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Buildexpo has grown in several aspects in 2018. The visitor registrations are much higher including top industry professionals such as builders, developers, architects, consultants, engineers, manufacturers, importers & distributors. In terms of exhibitors, the event will showcase a wider range of products and equipment also this year since there has been a focus on the mining, lighting, wood, glass and water industry. Companies from over 30 different countries are scheduled to participate in the Tanzanian edition including major players from the East African region. Countries dominant this year are Germany, China, India and Italy with several leading international brands looking to build a solid foundation in the East African market.

The Tanzanian government has announced aggressive promotion of infrastructural development in the country. Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia and Rwanda are among the African countries that will directly benefit from the Belt and Road Initiative” (also referred to OBOR – One Belt, One Road economic corridor project. The expansion of the Port of Bagamoyo and Dar es Salaam, the Stiegler’s Gorge power project, the US $2.5bn Rwanda-Tanzania SGR(Standard Gauge Railway) project, the US $750m Kenya-Tanzania highway connecting Malindi and Bagamoyo and the expansion of the Julius Nyerere Airport (JNIA) costing US $249.2m and the Mega bus terminal in Dodoma are just a few of the dozens of initiatives that the administration in Tanzania has cleared so as to boost Tanzania’s economic progress. It can be said that Tanzania is on the fast path to becoming the gateway to Africa.

It has been projected as the ideal forum for international companies to showcase their products and services to the huge market. Major company leaders from East Africa, and surrounding regions are invited directly in collaboration with regional trade bodies in Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda, Somalia, Mozambique and Congo.

Tanzania has embarked on its second Five-Year Development Plan, 2016/17 to 2020/21 (FYDP II), which picks up on interventions which fell short under MKUKUTA II and FYDP I. The focus for the government for the future of Tanzania is now to urgently implement measures to enable and encourage the private sector to play a more significant role in Tanzania’s development. The country’s real GDP growth rate, was the highest in the East African Community (EAC) for 2017 and 2018 going forward is only looking better.
