To produce building supplies, Africa Bamboo Plc has moved into the Hawassa Industrial Park.
The company has already finished the requirements for production, according to the Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC).
African Bamboo, a company that manufactures bamboo-based floorboards, is licenced in both Ethiopia and the Netherlands.
In Hawassa Industrial Park, the manufacturer has now joined more than 50 other foreign businesses.
The CEO of IPDC, Sandokan Debebe, announced that the business will produce indoor flooring and wall cladding from bamboo at its Hawassa facility.
However, studies show that resource use is essentially primitive and that more bamboo products are imported than exported.
According to representatives of IPDC, African Bamboo Plc. has already set up a vertically integrated supply chain for its manufacturing facility.
The supply chain for bamboo starts with Hawassa IP, which manufactures it before selling it on the world market.
The Hawassa IP, which is south of Addis Abeba, specialises in products that can be exported entirely.
