Transport Cooling Africa, the proud supplier of Thermo King products in Southern Africa, is pleased to announce the launch of Thermo King’s AxlePower, an innovative technology designed for sustainability, zero emissions and unsurpassed energy efficiency. AxlePower is a huge step towards a cleaner, greener future.
The AxlePower technology, which includes BPW’s ePower axle, is the most recent addition to Thermo King’s technological portfolio. It transfers energy from the vehicle’s braking system into a continuous power supply for trailer refrigeration units.
In addition to the launch of this exciting new technology, Transport Cooling Africa marks a pioneering milestone by delivering the first AxlePower power technology system to DP World. With eight other systems scheduled for installation in the next two months at multiple different industry leading consumers, Transport Cooling Africa’s collaboration with its industry leading consumers demonstrates a dedication to efficiency and preservation of the environment.
AxlePower technology is a completely integrated system that combines Thermo King hybrid or entirely electric trailer refrigeration units, BPW’s ePower axle energy recovery system and battery storage technologies to produce an efficient, self-powered trailer refrigeration solution. The system saves the energy generated when the truck is rolling or braking in a high-voltage battery and uses it to power the refrigeration unit and preserve the cargo at the right temperature for transport.
The AxlePower technology is tractor-independent, making it simple to implement throughout the customer’s fleet. The technology is also directly compatible with all Thermo King and Frigoblock trailer refrigeration units.
