The ruling CCM party’s 2020–2025 election pledge was fulfilled by the government through the investment of more than 22 billion in water projects throughout Musoma, Mara Region.
The Mayani-Tegeruka–Kataryo project, which cost 4.69 billion dollars to implement, Busambara (2.42 billion dollars), Buriga–Bujaga (1.81 billion dollars), Chumwi–Mabui (1.69 billion dollars), and Wanyere–Chirorwe (1.18 billion dollars) are important projects.
A total of 375 hamlets, or 68 communities, have benefited from the water projects.
Prof. Muhongo pointed out that the government wants to increase access to safe and clean water to 100% throughout Musoma as part of the CCM’s impending 2025–2030 election manifesto.
As part of the government’s commitment to carrying out the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) 2020–2025 Election Manifesto, notable progress has been made in the water sector.
The 2002 National Water Policy, which was updated in 2005 to reflect new development requirements and sustainability objectives, was largely responsible for the accomplishments.
Strategic development, suitable technology innovation, and sustainable management of the nation’s water resources are given top priority under the updated policy.
The planning, coordinating, and execution of several water supply projects nationwide have been based on the policy directives.
Over 12.5 million people have benefited from the projects taken together, demonstrating the government’s commitment to ensuring water supply as a crucial pillar of national growth.
