Dodoma Lights up Sh10.5B Electricity Upgrade Brightens Tanzania’s Capital

With the start of a 10.5 billion initiative to modernize electrical lighting distribution facilities in the Kongwa District, the Dodoma Region, and nearby areas, the government has boosted funding for the energy industry with the goal of enhancing dependability and promoting economic growth.

Mr. Deogratias Ndejembi, the Minister of Energy, started the project by inaugurating an Automated Voltage Regulator (AVR) and a power switching station in the Mbande neighborhood of Kongwa. According to him, the government still places a high priority on the energy lighting sector because of its vital role in promoting trade, investment, industrial growth, and better living standards.

According to Mr. Ndejembi, substantial national initiatives like the Julian Nyerere Hydropower Project, infrastructure expansion, and investments in renewable energy lighting have increased generation capacity to over 4,000 megawatts.

Improved social services, commercial expansion, industrial growth, and investment all depend on a steady supply of lighting. The government still makes significant investments in this industry because of this. He continued by saying that because Dodoma Region is the nation’s capital and administrative hub, it has been given particular attention when it comes to the construction of electrical energy infrastructure.

According to him, the newly constructed infrastructure will eliminate Kongwa’s dependency on one single transmission line in Dodoma City. According to him, the project’s completion will enhance the availability of electricity in Kongwa, Gairo, Chamwino, and portions of Mpwapwa while also fostering an atmosphere that is favourable for business and investment.
