The road and pedestrian walkway lighting along the B10 corridor that connects James Gichuru Junction to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has been improved by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA). As a component of the continuing Capability Enhancing, Landscape Designation, and Beautification Project, the update demonstrates the authority’s dedication to building a more secure, effective, and aesthetically pleasing transportation corridor for Nairobi’s citizens and tourists.
The authority claimed that the lighting projects are a part of a larger Facilities Improvement, Landscape Design, and Beautification Project that runs from James Gichuru intersection to JKIA according to the highway lane stretch of highway initiative, an ongoing program, during a brief site inspection by the KeNHA team.
Key areas of the JKIA corridor were inspected for lighting, with an emphasis on better illumination for late-night driving along the congested B10 route, improving transparency and safety on the road for all users throughout the airport stretch region. According to KeNHA, improved illumination on the 27-kilometer stretch enhances road safety visibility, and improves the visual appeal of one of Nairobi’s major international gateway approaches for both pedestrians and cars utilizing the JKIA corridor, as well as regular travellers and tourists.
KeNHA emphasized that the improved illumination is anticipated to increase road user safety, visibility, and the visual attractiveness of this important international gateway. In order to prepare for the project implementation phase rollout. The idea, which involves building a new, independent terminal and runway next to the current facilities, arrives at a time where JKIA is looking to expand due to the deteriorating standards of the current runway in a Ksh264 – billion project.
