U.S.-Africa Energy Ministerial Announced For June

Washington, DC – On June 3-4, 2014, the governments of the United States and Ethiopia will co-host a U.S.-Africa Energy Ministerial (AEM) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Ministerial will be a forum for catalyzing concrete actions to expand energy access across the African continent. The Ministerial will highlight progress on President Obama’s Power Africa initiative, showcase African leadership in energy development, and explore strategies and effective practices across Africa and the United States for accelerating development of clean energy sources and adoption of energy efficient technologies.

The Ministerial will include energy ministers, multilateral development partners, sub-regional and regional energy organizations, and other relevant stakeholders in energy from both the public and private sectors. It will also provide opportunities for government-to-government, government-to-industry, and company-to-company meetings. By bringing together energy sector policymakers and energy investors, the Ministerial will help expand bilateral energy cooperation and trade between the United States and African nations.

Leadership Africa USA is coordinating the AEM and will be launching the main portal www.us-africaenergyministerial.com for the Ministerial in early March for registration, the agenda and updates.
